TBH out of all the dead rappers I miss Sean P the most. Only dude after Redman who kept the "hard as fukk but able to laugh at themselves whilst being thorough in the booth" aesthetic going.

Dude was a pure beast of an MC but just seemed like a humble hilarious character, on and off the mic.

It's funny, you could tell how he rapped that he knew he was nicer than most of his competition on his level. His career came up in the 90s but he must've seen hip hop blossom in its earliest phase. But even when he was broke as shyt and out of the game he never seemed to lose sight of the truth that rap should be about. Who the fukk else was rapping about how broke they were? EVER!? WHO!!!!?

Apart from Fatlip is all I can think of, but he's not cut from the same cloth.

Monkey Barz to Superstar. I don't think anyone put forward a better argument for hardcore east coast style rap in the new millenium than sean. Ghost and Jada the only ones who come to mind. But I want to say P the most improved MC of all time. Who've you got? Doom? Ev? Nah, I love both, matter of fact DOOM just below P on my list but I'd throw his discog under the bus for Sean making me laugh.

Funny you bring up Redman. I remember an interview with Sean P when he said Muddy Waters was his favorite album, if I recall correctly. RIP.

breh I know exactly what you mean, There's a rapper by the name of Tone Liv from New Jerz who carries that same aesthetic - gully, funny, sharp and talented. Check him out if you ever get a chance

He's nice breh :ehh: Repped. Kinda on that durag dynasty vibe.

Another dude that reminds me of P is Mr. eXquire. He's got that same thing in his raps that he knows he's nastier than 99% of his peers but also frustrated that most people don't really seem to give a shyt.
