Got a sub to this every Xmas from 1988 to about 1995 :to:

EGM was good too when it was huge, but Nintendo Power was always the GOAT for the NES and SNES years.

:damn: They had some ill covers!

The video game magazine Nintendo Power will end its 24-year run with the December issue, Nintendo has confirmed.

In a statement released Wednesday, the company revealed parent media firm Future US "will end production" of the magazine after its December issue.

Details of Nintendo Power's demise were first reported by Ars Technica, citing a "source" claiming Nintendo was "uninterested in renewing that contract or in taking part in a number of digital initiatives that Future saw as necessary for the long-term health of the brand."

Subscribers can visit the site's customer service page for questions.

Nintendo Power was a staple in many households with a Nintendo console. Among those mourning its loss is Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinski, whose name was featured in the first issue among high scorers in the NES classic Super Mario Bros.

"The magazine had a great run, and it will be missed, as will its enthusiasm, especially in a digital age that can sometimes be quick to damn before praising," Bleszinski writes in a piece for gaming site Kotaku.

Bruh, I can still remember where I was when I first got put onto this mag.
I was walking with a friend, he pulls out this mag
I damn near have a heart attack because there is no internet first off, so this is how you would learn about new shyt
As a small kid who would STILL play SMB over and over at this time (I beat it easily over 100x)
I didn't even fathom the possibility of a sequel. I probably learned the word Sequel because of this game :hula:

Same shyt when somebody put me onto this...

I never had Nintendo Power, but seeing another gaming magazine bite the dust makes me think about all of the other gaming magazines that I used to read that are gone now. Makes me regret not having at least one issue of this magazine (yet).

:rip: to Nintendo Power, GamePro, (the unofficial) PSM, and another part of my childhood :sadbron:

I remember getting that free copy of Dragon Warrior for NES with my subscription, kind of shytty game in retrospect, but it was one of my 1st RPG's. I had a subscription for almost 12 years. Great magazine. RIP. But a lot of you younger brehs don't realize, this was as close to the internet as it got. Especially when some of those strategy VHS tapes came in through the mail. :sadbron:
