Even though I was a youngin, two of favorite Knicks growing up was John Starks and Mase. Dude embodied what being a Knick was all about back then and repped the city well.

Those Mid 90's knick teams were the first time any of my shyt teams were real good in my teen age years at least.Mase was such an easy guy to gravitate to.Queens cat who battled his way to the NBA just a fearless dude .

This hit me harder then I thought. The attachment you have to players you rooted for growing up is special and when one dies it feels like a blow to your childhood.

At 34 i still love sports but I'll never have the emotional attachment to a player like I did back in the day.

You have to be from NY to know how popular that 90s Knicks Team was. My Mom who can't name you 3 knicks from the last 10 years could name you the Starting 5 from those Knicks teams.

Versatile player too. On the Knicks he had to guard Shaq and Olajuwon so Ewing wouldn't get in Foul Trouble. Was Quick enough to Guard Jordan too. Under-appreciated as a Player.
