Politico, thehacktivist group New World Hackers claimed responsibility for the attack in retaliation for Ecuadorrescinding Internet access to WikiLeaks founderJulian Assange at their embassy in London, where he has been granted asylum. This claim has yet to be confirmed by American officials. WikiLeaks alluded to the attack on Twitter, tweeting "Mr. Assange is still alive and WikiLeaks is still publishing. We ask supporters to stop taking down the US internet. You proved your point." New World Hackers has claimed responsibility in the past for similar attacks targeting sites like BBC or ESPN.com.

I don't get this line of thinking. It brought those sites down or seriously disrupted them. Sounds like hacking to me. Also don't forget they extorting people with ddos attacks too. Hackers are getting gangsta now.

It's a denial of service. Two different things

Even using the commonly accepted definition for hack (gaining unauthorized access), still no hack was to be seen.

He's right, it's not hacking. It's media fear mongering which is partly one of the reasons why they do this.

Kinect is used everyday by millions, while PSeye is like an external webcam which I don't think people actually buy these days
