Quick explanation breh, I dont need no elaborate stories on the subject.

Why would a record label buy their artist albums? What kinda marketing is that? Please explain.

If I put $1000 worth of burgers on my burger stand, nobody buys em, and I buy em up...i mean...the fukk did I do? People will talk "how there are no more burgers, that guy must be flippin best burgers in town"?

I flip it back, how else can you explain the wild drop offs for rap albums, vs the steady sales of artist like Adele

It started off as a real life practice, where label would buy like a thousand copies of an album and give them away for promotional purposes (for example the cds that radio stations give away "to the 15th caller"...the copies given to members of the media for reviewing purposes, etc)...it's a marginal expense apart of the promotional budget....but then, like many things on the internet, it morphed into some nonsensical conspiratorial bullshyt that people selectively use to hate on the success of rappers they don't like...where labels would allegedly waste millions of dollars buying hundreds of thousands of albums just to juice up first week numbers for appearances sake...which of course, makes no sense...especially in the current landscape of the industry that has seen album sales dry up

You get more for tours, endorsement, media coverage if you are perceived to be a high artist in demand (big record sales) ..... then obviously people start buying your shyt.

Its not ass backwards, they cant LIE because they dont control the 3rd party companies (billboard, RIAA, Nielsen) that verifies their numbers. Therefore they use other tactics such as buying records and rescanning them.
