I was editing this into my OG post but since you quoted it:
Rafael kept it 100 about the fight. Cotto looked really good and broke down a cruiserweight.
But no one is getting a pat on the back for weight-draining Top 10 guys with mileage when they're A-side fighters who could have been fighting elite competition in PPV encounters. Cotto been on a lot of fukkshyt with that belt, and he looked very good (and I was one that thought Geale had a serious chance), but at the end of the day, this last year has been a fukking charade, and when there's fights he could have been making nothing he does is going to make up for that.
Also, let's not act like Rosenthal hyped up Geale or something in the GGG piece. He says he's a solid, world class fighter (which he is) that had no hope of winning because of the ability GGG showed. Now that we already know what Geale looks like against someone elite, someone else is supposed to get props for doing the same thing a year later AND weight-drained AND they're not the reason that better fights didn't happen?
If he called Geale a can for Cotto and a world beater for GGG you'd have a point. But he didn't. He called Geale probably not better than the best GGG had faced before and then for Cotto saying that Geale's limitations (which we know fully now post-GGG because he got destroyed) make the fight uninteresting.
