Because Bob's more famous and the "Legends" album is filled with songs everyone knows and loves compared to the other two??

Bob's a legend in his own right, but unless you been through the catalogues of both artists I featured along with others such as burning Spear and the like...don't think that a battle against Robert would go unanimously in his favour.

His fame and death at the height of his mortal popularity has made him an undeniable Icon, but that often overshadows the casual reggae listener into thinking that there was no one else as good during that era that could match him.

But this Versuz setup is for popular songs, the more I think on it. Happy go lucky tunes like "3 little birds" made their way across the globe for a reason, I guess. :manny: Eh.
Your post explains perfectly why Bob Marley cannot be challenged.

.........In THAT format, yeah. :hubie:

There's a reason the record exec Cacs didn't want songs such as "Looting and Wailing" to make the legends album and why Peter Tosh was considered "too difficult" to work with back in them days since he was too ''militant'' in his stance against Black oppression at the hands of the same folk that wanted to "Vibe" with that genre of music but didn't want the social commentary to include them.

As a lover and student of Conscious Reggae, I had to cherry Pick through Bob's impressive catalogue to find the shyt that I always found front and centre in Tosh's work and in Bunny's soulful renditions and that's why my heart lies in terms of Reggae Music. Not just the "Hits". shyt, I might amuse myself and make a Versuz list of my own featuring all three, but I prolly won't make it past the first joint.

You prefer Tosh and Bunny’s music to Bob’s, ain’t nothing wrong with that, they are all reggae legends.

Like I also say, in such a scenario it depends on the crowd. If its only hardcore reggae fans, no disrespect to Nesta, people like Gregory Isaacs, Dennis Brown, Culture, Sizzla etc. are going all the way with him.It won't be that clear cut as with a more "casual" fanbase who don't know/care who Gregory Isaacs is.Bob was a very good artist though, with a very strong catalogue.

This is like saying Michael Jackson was a very good entertainer or Michael Jordan was a very good basketball player

Has Smokey been mentioned? Dude wrote so many hits, not just songs, but legit classic hits including some of Mike's. People always overlook him. He was Kellz before Kellz without the predatory shyt of course.

I've heard some people say there was nothing special about him and class him as average in these type of discussions.

Not saying any of these would beat Michael Jackson in a versuz but could put up a decent fight:

Ray Charles

James Brown

Elvis Presley

Stevie Wonder

The Beatles

Sam Cooke

Louis Armstrong

Frank Sinatra

R Kelly

Little Richard

Chuck Berry

Prince

:whoa: hear me out now catalogue for catalogue Michael Jackson only going toe to toe with Stevie and possibly prince.

but in a 20 songs format
maybe just maybe Marvin Gaye got his number

What's Going On and I Want You plus 2 songs on Midnight Love I think could hold against Michael Jackson top 20:yeshrug:
Nah

You know you're fire when women & men across the planet pass out when you start performing and they can't even understand what you're saying

MJ is the GOAT because no one combined dance/showmanship and musicianship to the table like he did but no one is seeing stevie when it comes to the combination of elite pure musicianship, song writing/crafting and range of musical styles within one style
