I think the usual suspects were real. He could even go back and look up the arrest of them all and check for the body they buried in the sand.

But the why is most important. Why did this all happen?

The viewer has no clue

From what I understand: Keaton, Fenster, McManus, and Hockney had cross Keyser Soze without them actually knowing that they had.

Keaton was a corrupt cop and wasn't it pointed out in the movie that you could be working for Keyser Soze and not even know it?

Then again, apparently, Keaton knew who Keyser was from the first scene in the movie on the boat post killings.

I think the reason why Fenster (the one that got buried in the sand) was killed off because ol' Verbal Kint could sense that Fenster was sniffing something out not right. Fenster was the one freaking out about Keyser Soze during that scene when they met the lawyer Kobayashi.

what a lot of people get, but don't really put in context.... is the ENTIRE movie is made up bullshyt

meaning, not a single thing you see is the truth, outside of that room... the entire story from who, why, what, when is complete and total bullshyt

so in reality (of the movie)... we have zero clue why he showed up, what he was doing there, why he needed to do it, and why he let himself be caught... zero.. cause the entire story he told was bullshyt
And furthermore, there's the possibility that Verbal may not even be Keyser Soze:mjpls:

There isn't much evidence to tell us he's Keyser Soze. Sure, we're led to believe Verbal is him, but Verbal is an unreliable narrator. And that's even assuming Keyser Soze even exists. Of course, that's just one of the many theories of this movie:manny:

Everything that happened in the police station and in the hospital was real, that much we know. The Hungarian guy identifying Keyser Soze with the sketch was real, and the sketch looked just like Verbal. Then you also have Kobayashi picking Keyser up at the end. Would they have the same actor who played Kobayashi in the narrative pick up Verbal/Keyser at the end if he wasn't a real person? I doubt it.

That 1 dude survived
He wanted to know what the cops knew

I'm starting to think the bold is true. But still to me that's a risky move. If you're connected politically and criminally like Keyser was, who gives a f*ck what some random NYPD cops have?

A 10-second delay at the pick up window to get his items and sun would have had a whole new set of very serious problems.
