Where you at now? I've been to Switzerland. You know it's expensive as f*ck right? Are you tryin' to kick it? Straight move there and never come back? What's the deal? give more details.
Im from Sweden breh, I can tell u that u need to pass on Finland. :scusthov: at that country.

Go ahead and ask any questions youd like to know. Im sure I can answer whatever it is.
What would it be like for a black American traveling through Sweden/Switzerland in terms of interacting with people? Blatant racism or more accepting? Just curious.

I can't speak for Sweden, no problems in Switzerland. No problems in Germany/Poland either for that fact. Not sure if it's because I'm 225 lbs and will f*ck you up :demonic: has anything to do with it. :manny: Switzerland by the way is VERY international, all kinds of people there, same like the US. I've incurred way more racism from white latinos than any CAC in Europe. I did experience slight racism in Asia. I didn't go to Italy though, but I've heard it can be bad there.

In Sweden, there wouldn't be any problems at all. You wouldn't notice any racism unless you found some obscure little town on the country side, and even then it's just a maybe.

I think around 20 % of the population are immigrants or have parents who have imigrated and that number is higher in the bigger cities so chances are you would meet alot of black people from africa too.

All in all, it's very accepting. Sometimes it's even so accepting that it's funny, like people are so scared to step on anyones toes that it's ridiculous.

Word? I've heard Poland can be pretty bad? Germany and Switzerland seem cool, know alot of black folks who have been there.

Italy is bad, like really bad. And some other countries like Hungary - a friend of mine was there for a basketball tournament (he's a coach but was scouting..) and he told me that they were blatanly racist against him on the streets. Calling him negro and shyt :dwillhuh:

Aight brehs here a most of the questions I had. Feel free to freestyle and add stuff you think is important/ tips and tricks to living there/shyt I should avoid/definitely do.

  • Weather - Of the jump i'm in TX, i'm used to moderate to severe humidity/heat. Not too much a fan of cold. Are end of the world snowstorms a regular theme? Can a nikka rock shorts? :ld:

  • Transportation - I know the subway is heavily used but in relation to getting from point a to point b is it a hassle/time consuming? Do ya'll (swagkingkong/gragra etc) have cars? What other forms of transportation do you use?
  • Groceries/Shopping – I usually do my shopping at a local farmers market or whole foods/kroger, I can usually manage by spending round 60$ a week on groceries ( I know the SEK to $ is about .15 or so) .Would I need to curb down on that? Are items pricey? My homie lives in portugal and he told me that razors/basic grooming stuff is expensive, is that similar to Sweden?
    • With regards to clothing /amenities ( I rock contacts are those pricey?) price wise what can I expect? ( Note: im a basic jean/pant with subtle color shirt breh)
    • Entertainment/Electronics – Same deal here what can I expect to pay? Is it unreasonable?
    • Eating out - What the average cost of a meal. For comparison sake I usually pay 10$ for a decent fast food meal in the states (meal/side/drink) and maybe round 20-25$ at a upscale place how does that compare in Sweden? Also should I tip? I heard some places consider that insulting to tip,What percent? Etc
  • Working out/Exercise
    • What is the gym/activity centers looking like in Sweden? Whats the price? How are the parks?
    • Sports – I heard IceHockey is a staple of the country. How is soccer out there? Are there indoor/outdoor soccer fields?
  • Education
    • Got my undergrad out of the way and if I was to stay there I would probably pursue my masters/phd in sports medicine. I heard for citizens education is free is it mad pricey for non citizens? How long would I need to stay to be a citizen? What are the some nice/reputable universities/colleges?
  • Nightlife
    • Going Out – how are the night spots? Im assuming a lot of yall are into HipHop/Soul so how is the night club scene? Concerts?
    • Females – What those things smell/look like tho? :shaq: Diverse bunch/or similar types? I heard the ratio is 3:1 females/males. Drop any basic rules of behavior. No ass touching? are we buying broads flowers and being respectful? ( I use the tried and true “ Are we fukking?” here in the states :manny:)
    • I am a US Citizen so how do the locals respond to Americans? Negative/Positive? I aint tryna hear the typical “Americans aint shyt” speech when I touchdown.
    • Cops? Do they give nikkas static? :whoa: no criminal element on my side either brehs.
    • Herb :ucme: are we coping legally or through channels. I don't drink but the green puts me at ease.
  • Living situation
    • Im assuming staying in Stockholm is pricey as hell. What cities would ya'll suggest to live in ( Note: I do not know exactly where i'm gonna be going when I visit, i'll def hit yall up for advice).

Good questions breh :obama:

Weather - The weather is a negative with Sweden. While summer is cool and hot, the winters can get really cold. I wouldn't say snow storms are are a regular theme but it can happen, not always though. I think the weather is close to what you'd find in New York, maybe not as warm in the summers. But yeah, you'll be able to rock shorts from late may to early september basically.

Transportation - The subway is cool if you live in Stockholm. It's not a hassle, you'll be able to get around quickly with it. I don't have a car myself and I don't really need one. Public transportation works good anywhere you are so I get around by bus most of the time. Most young people do actually, or just grab a bike :shaq: . But yeah, you'll be able to go places with either the subway (stockholm), or if you any place else bus, train etc. the infrasctracutre is good, no worries. Just pick up a pass that is paid monthly with whatever you want to travel by and you're good. My bus card is around 70 bucks per month and it allows me to travel how much I want by bus.

Groceries/Shopping - 60 bucks a week would probably be enough for a week for groceries. Maybe up that a little bit but it depends on your diet really, for example meat is pretty expensive. I would guess that groceries cost about the same here as in US, all I know for a fact is that fast food is much cheaper in the US. It's actually pretty expensive here but groceries is pretty much the same I would guess. Razors and basic grooming stuff are pretty expensive but I always thought it was so all around the world? I don't know really, I buy alot of stuff online so that's a cheaper alternative.

Brand clothing is pretty expensive in stores, I actually find most of my stuff online even in clothing. Sneakers are expensive as hell and sometimes you might even prefer to just order sneakers from the US and it'll be cheaper even with the shipping. You'll be able to find jeans like Levis etc. for around 115-120 dollars. I'm guessing that's pretty expensive compared to US?

I have prescription glasses and it's not really expensive to me.. I actually just bought two pair of glasses and also paid for the vision screening? I think that's what it's called.. all in all I paid 250 bucks for it. And one of the pairs were armani glasses :wow:

Entertainment/ Electronics aren't expensive. The prices are so pressed that you basically can't find it any cheaper. TVs, gaming systems, computers etc. are as cheap as they come basically. same with headphones etc. Definitely not unreasonable prices, at worst its the same as in US, maybe even cheaper.

Eating out - This is a pretty expensive part. Sweden doesn't really have a tradition of eating out like in the states, or ordering food to bring home like y'all do. Fast food is more expensive here.. While it probably is around 10-12 bucks for fast food it's probably alot less food then you would get in the states, lol. If you're eating at a upscale place, you would probably have to pay around 20-30 bucks depending on how nice of a place it is and what you're ordering. Chinese food for example you can get the buffet for around 20 bucks with a drink, at a pretty good place.

And as for the tip, you basically never tip in Sweden. I don't think I've ever done it to be honest. So no tip...

Working out/Exercise - Alot of gyms and the activity is high. Prices differ from gym to gym but everything from 280-350 bucks a year at alot of places. Some gyms can be even cheaper, those who are open 24/7 but doesn't have anyone working there. you basically just check in with your card...

Education - Yeah, they actually just recently started with a tuition fee for non-citizens. Education is completely free for anyone who's a citizen and I'm not sure how long it would take for you to become a citizen. I would guess it wouldn't take too long since you're american, it shouldn't be that hard. Much harder for people from africa, south america, asia etc. Some good colleges are Uppsala Universitet, Lund Universitet, KTH, Chalmers tekniska högskola, SLU.. these are all close to bigger cities (stockholm, uppsala, malmö and gothenburg). Uppsala Universitet is probably the most famous one in Sweden, a very respectable school (81st in the world) and the city has alot to offer to students :obama:

Nightlife - Night spots are OK. You got to pick your spots, from what I've seen the bigger more mainstream places are into house music or whatever it is but there are alot of places that has plays good hiphop and rnb. you won't have any troubles finding spots that suits you after awhile. There are some good concerts every now and then, just the last two years I've seen Drake, J.Cole, Kanye & Jay-Z, Talib Kweli and probably some others too, seeing Wu-Tang in August too :wow: . But yeah, major acts will come around every now and then to basically to the bigger cities like Stockholm, Malmö and Gothenburg usually.

Females - a very diverse bunch. like I said, alot of immigrants in this country so you'll be able to find whatever you're looking for basically. and no buying flowers and being respectful, you can use your US style, it'll work. They're basically the same as the girls over there I would assume, remember, they grew up on your movies and music.

Locals respond well to americans. None of that americans aint shyt.. I've found it that americans are actually the immigrants who get the most respect. If you speak broken swedish with an american accent, it's :ohhh: , if you speak it with an african accent it's :beli: .

Cops are the same everywhere breh.. well, they don't shoot you on the spot like in the US but yeah, if you ain't doing nothing then you good. That herb isn't bought legally but can easily be bought.. no worry. alot of people smoke.

Living situation - yeah, staying in Stockholm can be pricey, especially if you're plannin on staying downtown. But you can find places in the suburbs to live at at a reasonable price (in sweden, it's the opposite of of US.. the suburbs are where the low income people stay at and downtown is where the rich people stay at..). The cities i would suggest you living in is Stockholm, Malmö, Gothenburg or Uppsala. Those are the four biggest cities in Sweden.. Stockholm and Uppsala are very close to eachother, so you can commute or whatever between the two. It's like 40 mins by train.. Malmö and Gothenburg are down south and relatively close to eachother too. So those are the best spots IMO.

Hope that helps breh and cleared some stuff up, feel free to hit me up again for any follow ups and I look forward to adding another nikka to Sweden :shaq: my family already brought too many africans to this country :shaq: lol
