You don’t!
In the UK for examples there is no such stupid notion as jaywalking, you can cross the street wherever you want apart from motorways.
It is CLEAR that just like smoking weed nobody obeys this law.
In the UK the people have the freedom to use their own judgement, there are no dotted lines.
Unless it’s a motorway then you cannot, but even that is not even called jaywalking it’s just walking.

Remove the law altogether.

Ask anyone from the UK about jaywalking & they’ll laugh at you.

From a cursory search, it looks like the UK has had campaigns for decades to slow down pedestrian deaths due to bad crossings

I think jaywalking laws are absurd, but then sometimes I'm getting off the highway and there's some moron crossing the street with oncoming traffic and my opinion changes
