Been replaying this and other Lord Quas classics all week and didn't even realize it was this album's birthday week.
Shyt, I remember first hearing snippets of this album on hiphopsite and downloading cuts here and there off Napster when it dropped. My older brother copped the CD. And I agree, this is the album where Madlib arrived. He was already on our radar from his Likwit crew days and producing gems on the indy 12" underground circuit (my favorite Madlib beat to this day is still the "Definition of Ill" remix). But The Unseen marked the beginning of him being the unquestioned GOAT of the 2000s.
Madlib has some of my all time favorite morning summer joints, with The Unseen (the actual song) being one of them. The streets need a new Quasimoto album. Bless us with an EP or at least some unreleased Quas cuts.
