This is reminding me of 80's/90's NY:
New York Knicks forward Cleanthony Early is reportedly in stable condition after getting shot in the knee during a robbery early Wednesday morning.
Continue for updates.
According to
Thomas Tracy, Rocco Parascandola and Dan Good of the
New York Daily News, the 24-year-old forward was robbed of his belongings by four to six people in ski masks after leaving a Queens, New York, strip club and was subsequently shot in the knee during the incident.
Samantha Tata and Anthony DiLorenzo of PIX 11, citing NYPD, confirmed the shooting occurred at 4:40 a.m. ET and that a woman who was with the former Wichita State star was not harmed.
While exact details regarding Early's health remain unclear, he was taken to the hospital and is reportedly in stable condition after the attack.
The shooting comes just days after Knicks forward Derrick Williams was robbed of $750,000 worth of jewelry by two women, per
Larry Celona and Joe Tacopino of the
New York Post.
As pointed out by Frank Isola of the
New York Daily News, the shooting comes at an ironic time as Knicks star Carmelo Anthony recently spoke out against gun violence:
Early has been used sparingly in his second
NBA season, as he has played in 10 games and is averaging just 0.7 points in 3.4 minutes per contest.
While potentially losing his services may not have a huge impact on the Knicks from an on-court perspective, one can only assume that his teammates will be shaken up and focused on his recovery after such a scary incident.
