First off, major props to all the producers and emcees on here doing your thing. There's some talented cats in this place, much respect

I used to produce since back in the day (2004 era). I had everything on my PC:
* Reason
* Cubase
* Acid (this was under rated for sampling)
* Fruity Loops
* shyt loads of VSTs

And I had a few MIDI keyboards and drum pads. I dabbled in beats but haven't done it for 10+ years.

I wanna get back into making beats. I have a Macbook nowadays. What's the most cost effective software out there? I'm out the loop brehs

I'm not trying to drop major dough, are there any free samplers or low cost ones out there?

I dunno if it's easy to get your hands on free Reason like it was back in the PC days, and I don't mind paying a little something.... but I'm not gonna drop mad dough on Ableton or whatever when I'm just planning on dabbling again.

I hoped the production heads in here might have some knowledge.

Thank you

i was gonna make another thread but ill try bumping this one first

i LOOOOVE this VST called Sitala. its a basic drum sampler but i use it with an akai pad. i love the compressor/tone options on it. been playing with layering drum samples on top of each other. best $20 i've spent in a long time. mac and windows

i prefer cubase 13 for stuff these days but i do have a copy of logic pro... i dont know the first thing about it. got ableton too... i guess im just stuck in my ways since i've been a cubase user since the first SX release.

been thinking hard about just buying that classic korg VST pack. i had a korg poly61 back in the day. pre-MIDI. played it through a guitar amp :mjlol:

anyways, hope somebody has something to share
