I Am A God
I'm not disappointed by this album because I got exactly what I expected.......It's good but missing that "IT" or those classic records to take it over the top..........I dunno, That's my thought upon first listen........I feel like if your album is 12 tracks it has to have certified bangers....and don't get me wrong there's joints but not joints that can stand alone for 12 tracks. I actually love short albums because I feel like you get the best of the best......I don't know if we got that from this album. We just got a dope tracks....In my eyes this a is a 3.5 or 4 mic album (more along 4 on today's standards).....It just needs that classic joint to me.....Adding say a Mercy or New God Flow caliber joints to this album would have taken it to the level it should be at. Suicide is too short. He has the joints that present his lyrical ability, Numbers on the Board, Nosetalgia, he's just missing those joints that I'll be bumping 5-10 years from now.
Illmatic had 10 tracks but much of the album were stand outs.......even a modern album like Teflon Don....you had like joints that just stuck with you forever, BMF, MC Hammer, I'm Not a Star, Aston Martin Music........then you had your free masons, tears of joy and mayback music 3s that built around those joints......I feel like this Pusha album has a bunch of quality joints that should be built around classic records but nothing that really takes you there......
I hate comparing albums to joints from the past but I've liked so many Clipse projects better than this one.......Lord Willin, Hell Hath No Fury, Til the Casket Drops even the We Got it For Cheap Series........I hear no real classic single off this.....No Grindin', No Hot Damn, No When's the Last Time, No Ma I don't Love Her, No Mr Me Too, Keys Open Doors,
No Kinda Like a Big Deal or I'm Goods or Door Mans......
I also miss Malice, I feel like they were the perfect balance.
That's just my opinion tho......Good album just missing those joints to take it to the next level.
edit: I need to listen to this with better quality, I think that's effecting how I feel about it......This rip is shyt.
