You guys just don't get it. It's not even that.....it's just the fact that people care specifically about good music now.
The battle thing has run it's course just because we've seen it elevated to such a point where we know it's just for sport because no one is trying to die like Biggie/2pac or go through the war 50 cent went through with Ja Rule and the Supreme Team. The Gangster Rap/Hard core era is done. All of these guys are rich, famous and enjoying their lives. Even tho hip hop started with battling (usually with guys hyping up their DJ before it moved onto MC vs MC battling) It's difficult to get people to care about a battle that isn't serious after what we saw in the 90s and early 2000s.
What Drake provides is much more rare. Dude has been dropping certified bangers for like 10 straight summers. Music that people actually create memories to, dance to, chill with friends and family to. Pusha T's music since he left the Clipse just hasn't had that impact on people and Joe Budden definitely hasn't done that. Also hip hop is much more party, club oriented and based around girls these days. No one is going to stop listening to good music just because a guy got outwitted on a record.
