Great podcast. We knew Trey was the starter, but from this quick interview seems Jimmy is a goner either way and not a backup at this money. Kyle mentioned salary cap implications multiple times.

Narratives about Jimmy and Trey been hilarious from day one. They had a QB who won a lot games when healthy and was respected in locker room, but limited ceiling and can't stay healthy. They drafted the QB they thought had the highest ceiling and best system fit but was the least experienced and coming from FCS. They run what's considered one of the most complex offenses in the NFL. So why wouldn't they keep the vet another year and let the rookie learn?

unless they have an actual offer on the table...are they really thinking of keeping him as a backup even tho they wont let him practice ? thats 25 fukking million of cap that can be used today or rolled over into the next year.

He said he expected Jimmy to "never again" practice with the team, so I don't see how that's any indication they are thinking of keeping him.

If that’s the case then release him so he can go elsewhere. They’re wasting his time at this point as teams aren’t going to give up assets for him when they know he’s going to end up being released. Even if a team suffers an injury to their starting QB, then the 49ers still have no leverage.
