This thread:lolbron:
"He is lucky the Rock didn't have his sunglasses on" :to:

fukking hell :dead:

As far as this little Benoit discussion whilst I disagree with @R=G in his general assessment of Shawn Michaels there's no doubt in my mind that Benoit was a better in ring worker. As far as technical ability goes I don't think N.America has produced anyone as good as him. If he hadn't done what he did I believe a lot more people would be talking about him as the best they've worked with. Of course that's a completely unverifiable statement, just my opinion.

Now tell wouldn't these 2 have a better match than Rock and Punk? Rock would make the match a hot line, HBKGOAT would make it a hot song.:ahh:

You'd rather see Rock v. HBK though...there's no better remotely possible dream match than that...

The Two GOATS...at a Mania...I can dream...

Someone should have given Rock Punk's promo transcript because I felt that I was watching two different promos. While punk was out there cutting a promo that was meta, serious, and filled with historicity, Rock went out there and started throwing his age old catchphrases. By age old catchphrases I am not saying that Rock's usual style of goofy promos don't have a place in WWE. I enjoy antics of Danielson, Kane, Santino and other silly characters quite a lot. But when silliness and words of substance clash the latter is going to win, always.

Rock can still cut meaningful and serious promos. Like this one for Cena:

I trust that Rock will drop another promo like this one during the remainder of his feud with Punk. Or at least I hope he does. And after watching last night's promo I was reminded of this promo between Rock and Hogan:

Last night Rock was in the shoes of Hogan in this video and Punk in Rock's shoes. The way Punk critiqued the Rock is different from how Rock critiqued hogan; but the end result is the same; you can't come back by saying things that your opponent just pointed out is devoid of substance.

HBK >>> The Rock

Filed & Understood

Had I not known about how grimey HBK tried to do the Rock back in the day, I would've agreed with that statement . Now I just look at him as the dude who along with Triple H was pretty much shook of the Rock. Dude even tried taking him out of the WM15 main event just so his buddy Triple H can get in. That's some ol fukk shyt IMO and that forever tainted my opinion of him.

I like how people fail to acknowledge the fact that the reason why Rock had to pretty much hold back against Cena is based off the fact that the WWE wanted that 50/50 reaction from the crowds meaning that they wanted to make their Golden Boy Cena get the best of Rock going into WM. If it wasn't sending him out there with that silly shyt such as writing notes on his wrist and him acting flabbergasted or allowing him to get the best of him in promos. They didn't want him to look too inferior against the Rock, Especially after Survivor Series 2011

This was the Rock we were all looking for last night, He also did a great job of making CM Punk look like he can be a serious challenge to him whereas many treated him as if he was a bum on the park(Cena) The Rock seemed more at home going at it with Punk and with Punk being a heel, They both can feel free to go at it which is why the promo chemistry between the two worked very well the other night.

Isn't it funny how the crowd started a "CM Gay" chant during the forced commercial break, just before Rocky came out to tell CM Gay to let his pants down. :russ:

My i see you are insane, please seek help i never insulted you any where but you go on a rant, HBK vs Sid, Foley, Vader, Bulldog, plus the early Taker matches are not talked about right? What about his match with Austin at KOTR? What about Austin getting the rub from working him when they won the tag belts? HBK can hang with Benoit any day, hell made the greatest moonsault in mania history in that 3 way, that was perfect, the guy came back from a back injury and had moty almost every year he was there, Rockis excellent on the mic, no question but come on now, HBK was out when Rock rose up, if HBK didn't get hurt he would have exposed Rock as a hack in the ring.

the Rocks own sharpshooter exposed him as a hack in the ring.
