They make it to that level by playing the game. I like e Kendrick music but why did he blow up vs bishop Lamont?
because bishop lamont was trash and had no mainstream appeal. its that simple. i love blu but i understand why he didnt make it over j cole there was no mainstream appeal there even tho j cole doesnt have an album better than below the heavens.

And he's the most conscious at the label...his Girlfriend and artist committed suicide in 2012 (jumped from radio tower) and he tried earlier the year...

Something is going on over there,bruh...
Ab soul has struggled with depression and drug addiction for most of his life :comeon:

Yeah, tde ain't the best label, but I doubt it's the sole reason. Breh has been fighting demons (not the literal kind) since he developed that skin disease

Glad he's still alive in spite it all. Cause I always admired him for continuing on despite all the shyt he's been through. He had a hard life, so I hope the worst is behind him.

It's lame and disrespectful to see people inserting their own agendas and conspiracies into people's lives :francis:

Yall don't know anything about what goes on but try to speak on it as if otherwise

I don't know why people interpret him saying "demonic influence" as him implying there being literal demons present. Perhaps that's what he meant, but it seems moreso a way to disingenuously conflate what he's saying in order to make it easier to disregard. There's no doubt mainstream black music is the darkest and most negative it's ever been. You could call it demonic in a figurative sense. Just compare these two R&B song videos, one from 30 years ago and one from this year.

The whole energy is different and it channels different emotions and narratives. And it just doesn't stop at music, pop culture in general seems to be more pessimistic and cynical these days.

Disingenuous af :mjlol:

Dark shyt ain't nothing new

Plenty of blues songs from back in the day about nikkas killing their wives

I wish he wouldn't trust me so much is 1000x more demonic due to the fact that it actually happened :picard:

Get this corny shyt out of here. Bishop Lamont "played the game" too. The game is creating mainstream records. The problem is he made bad ones, was a toxic person at Interscope, and ran into multiple issues behind the scenes due to his behavior to the point they got rid of him.

This is the most pathetic brain poison out there. Anyone who is successful must have sold their soul, and if you are unsuccessful it's because you are working towards god's path. Get the fukk out of here. Kendrick has spent his entire career speaking on real shyt, getting better as an artist, and putting out incredible music while being one of the best rappers out.

what about the 10 other people dre signed that never came out like bishop.

If you look at the entirety of who Dre has signed over the years, it hasn't worked out for nearly all of them..Outside of Busta,50,Em,Kendrick it hasn't worked for anyone
- Bishop
-Hit Man
-Knocturnal
-Eve
-Raekwon
-Joell
-Rakim
-GAGE
-Slim The Mobster
-Jon Connor
-Justus
-Anderson Paak

While Joell, Rakim,Eve,Raekwon and Anderson all achieved success... Dre was notorious for taking forever with artists and them leaving the label.

Bishop Lamont was beefing with D-list producers and not giving a fukk about doing anything to progress himself as an entertainer.

Pope Mobile,Caltroit and The Confessional were dope...but to think he was gonna blow :heh:

Even if you can really really rap, an inability to make mainstream tracks and have a marketable image somehow always leads to internet conspiracy

The blues is the blues; it's called "the blues" for a reason. The dark shyt ain't new but it's never been as ubiquitous as it is today affecting all genres.

this guy is missing the entire point but that shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that read the original tweet. He should be able to express whatever it was he was trying to say in a way that doesn't require some mystical initiation.

Earlier in the thread I said:

Creatives feel hard, communicate poorly and are prone to hyperbole.

Consumers are literal, take things on face value and are easily swayed.

I won't say creatives are liars but they never say what they mean, they always say how they feel, or how something made them feel.

If you want a straight or literal answer out of a creative you have to ask a simple question with no room for embellishment.

And even then they'll embellish.

That's how you get nyggas on the internet talking about demonic rituals and blood sacrifices when an artist says "this game will try to break you" or "there's forces at play working against me" when what they really meant was "my feelings were hurt because people didn't do what I told them to do exactly how I told them to do it and I'm a sensitive weirdo"

Oh what a surprise, stir controversy and now I'm thinking of dropping a project no one gives a fukk about. He did this multiple times while people waitedfor the SZA album.
:mjlol:

I'm not saying you shouldn't be able to talk shyt, even if I disagree with the content, on twitter. But when your execs are on twitter nonstop saying dumb shyt while your artists can't get release dates...it looks bad.
