From what I heard, the type of people that needed to hear their message weren't in attendence at this festival everyday...

Ehh….the type of people who attend their shows overseas also aren’t the type of people for whom their message is intended. I don’t really think that’s germane anymore.

Besides….who of these young retards will REALLY take a P.E. message to heart these days? We’re talmbout a generation that thinks “Y.O.L.O.” is some type of profound life doctrine. :rudy: :snoop:

Chuck D is man of integrity.

He doesn't commit his name or brand to something he doesn't agree with....and I RESPECT THAT.

For all of you, saying it's a missed opportunity......for what? Spreading the message? what message?

People need to stand on their principles instead of selling out in the hopes of being relevant or appealing to the masses.

One of few nikkas in raps history who's intentions you don't really question bcuz he's a righteous individual....but:wtf:?

"I know we were made in America but I'm really made on a planet,we weren't made by America or in it"-chuck d

:what: bu bu but you just said.....:snoop: next line sums it up basically,"we like to protest and be difficult":lolbron:

Let's be real, his entire fanbase is pretty much going to be militant, anti establishment....no need to alienate them by standing side by side and taking part in sumthing that is everything they hate....this move I much better for they "brand" much as I hate that word.

Can't be too concerned about tryna appeal to the masses, worry about ya loyal core....how many folks we done seen fall recently tryna "expand"...Nicki Minaj?Usher,Chris Brown?.

I get where Chuck is coming from, but sometimes the best way to take down the system is from within. This seems like a missed opportunity.

and sometimes the best way to take down the system is to work outside of the system.

Promote it to who? Pearl Jam or Odd Futures fanbase?

:usure:

How can the man the wrote One Million Bottle Bags, perform at a show thats promoting a beer company and not come off as suspect?

The show was in Philly though, they could've done Cali or Ny or Atl but they took it to Philly, working class people and their college, high school
Kids and on where the major part of the attendance.

But not doing a budweiser endorsed show is understood.
As far as anything else, I can't cosign that. It's real out there, war and the methods used in wars is inevitable a lot of times. We have enough troubles defending ourselves from our own people.

And shytting on Pearl Jam now? They've taken mad political risks.
Dudes are activists for "greenness" aka against big corporations "fukking up the world", against US foreign policy, against inequality amongst different races, supports the people with charity shows every time something happens specially during Katrina and on. I think their fans probably are as engaged in the cause as PE's fans if not more.

The same way people say Jay-z is more than rap, PE is more than rap.
While I partially agree with you, I've got to respect a dude for not letting the dollar dictate his life.

Still he performs songs with the super sellout partner of his, he still does festivals whose main sponsor might not be a alco-beverage company but some of their official partners are and on. It's hard to be a public enemy on part time.

I'm not shytting on Pearl Jam... But if they are really against corporations then they are sell outs for doing this show too...

Not corporations, the corporations fukking up earth mostly "anti-green" corporations like BP or companies limiting musicians like tick master and major labels and shyt. I think they might enjoy a beer or a energy drink though. But like most political acts they've been criticized for being sell outs, it's hard not to be when everything is linked. You basically can't do a festival without some of your money being paid by a beverage company these days, unless if the festival is in Tehran or some shyt like that.

Good for Chuck for maintaining some brand integrity.

He still shoulda performed tho.

He coulda did his anti-America routine and maybe reintroduced PE to a generation that only knows Flava Flav through that reality show.
