I feel like essentially the PE mindset was made by america('s shortcomings)....the nature of their music, the commentary is about America...so they could've performed and been true to themselves

I get where Chuck is coming from, but sometimes the best way to take down the system is from within. This seems like a missed opportunity.

Performing on that stage, with a great performance (which I think PE would have, their live show is notoriously great) would have exposed them to a bit of a different crowd and really opened some eyes and ears.

As a longtime PE fan, that was a dumb move for them to decline the performance. You can't spread the proper message to a new generation IF YOU DON'T GO TO THE PEOPLE!!!

This is the "What have you done for me, lately" generation, and Chuck himself should realize that today's hip-hop fans have the attention spans of pre-schoolers.

From what I heard, the type of people that needed to hear their message weren't in attendence at this festival everyday...

But Chuck not performing to promote that message is just as bad.

I don't think Chuck isn't really interested in spreading his message to new fans or teaching pre-schoolers.

As Raekwon would say Public Enemy since 1998 when they chose to leave Def Jam is for "certain fans, certain delegators, certain supporters".

It isn't always about being marketable or "relevant"...

I said that today's hip-hop fans have the attention span of pre-schoolers, but that's another rant.

But at the same time, I felt that Chuck is missing out on a chance to help spread that message to the newer generation. Never mind being trendy or marketable, just get some good producers and then every thing will fall into place. The production staff of Griff, Johnny Juice, C-Doc, and Gary G-Wiz isn't cutting it.

And those "certain fans, certain delegators, certain supporters" that Rae is talking about are not supporting PE like they should.

Promote it to who? Pearl Jam or Odd Futures fanbase?

:usure:

How can the man the wrote One Million Bottle Bags, perform at a show thats promoting a beer company and not come off as suspect?

What did Chuck do with the money that he won against St. Ides?
