I've gotten the schooly D's vibe from both tracks. Both sound lokey drill to me too.

Yes, get in step just marching around and you'll get what i mean. The swing drum beat and the high hat just ring a bell to me and the flow

Ah I see. Yeah the vibe to it. Not sure if Chicago "drill" music came from that context. But the vibe is definitely there.

Musically, no...
Thematically, a little...
He’s repping a gang “PSK” Parkside Killers
And he mentions pointing his gun

but there’s a million songs with that same element that would not have influenced drill music

So the track i posted above doesn't influenced drill artists? Or am i way off and the schooly d's track is irrelevant? I can march to this shyt bro.

Like dude said, you can probably trace it all the way back to PSK but I doubt any of the kids making drill music have ever heard the song.

Jesus Christ both the Ice T and Eazy tracks sound like clear sound rip offs of Psk - but it was all love and they grew their own ways.

But it's incredible how influential School D was! That's real influence. Make you do things music....make you run in the studio and make music...music.
ice t even said he ripped off psk in the drink champ episodes

he influenced ice t before eazy e.

yes, west coast is more funky but sonically real G-funk took some years to evolve. before that, there were more basic funk samples that even NY artists were doing, like de la soul, so it wasnt necessarily a major style difference until it became more sophisticated G-funk by artists like dr dre in the 90s.

yeah like i would say around 90 and 91 is when the west started to sound different in its funk usage from my research as of now
Before The Chronic which is the most popular example pointed out of west g funk, you had DJ quik with Quik is the Name in 91 which help be one of the setup albums for the G funk.

Drill is nothing more than a form of Gangsta/Hardcore Rap that we've been hearing since NWA to Mobb Deep, just with a new(er) sonic backing. So yea, all forms of Gangsta/Street Rap owe a debt to Schooly D.
