Real talk I have no reason to buy one now.

Was gonna surprise my son and trade in is PS4 and upgrade literally just for Spider-Man. Now ima just buy the game for him and let him keep the PS4 for a while

Despite fanboys doing what they do best, this was already expected.
A lot of the games at the beginning of a new generation are cross-platform.

I don't care, I'm basically getting a PS5 as a CPU/GPU upgrade for my PS4 just like I did with the Pro.

That's "if" they are actually doing a huge catalog of backwards compatibility. Knowing Sony, they are going to do around 10 games and call it a day.
