Um yeah it is, you can buy a standard edition with a placeholder ship date of 12/31/13. Because they dont know when they will have some in stock.

and this "placeholder" date is not b/c m$ has not announced a release date. just like what was listed by every retailer for the ps4 before today's announcement??
