ok well its not difficult persey you have to have time and patience. And you could very easily brick your ps3 by flashing with an incorrect dump file.
also the tutorial i followed had me install linux (although apparently there is a way around that now) to get EID0 dump.
Lastly, there is no back up manager as of yet compatible with dex f.w. 4.11, so you need an external hard drive ready that you dont mind being formatted to as a bluray hdd. ALSO when you format your external hdd, you only get 4 partitions on the drive so youll only be able to "burn" 4 back ups to an external, they are easy to remove tho if you want to "burn" another game in place.
You also need to know if you have a NAND or NOR machine, this is very important because the steps are different.
I followed this tutorial to turn a NAND cex 3.55 CFW into a NAND DEX machine on dex 4.11.
[GUIDE] PS3 NAND CEX-TO-DEX - PS3Hax Network - Playstation 3 Hacks and Mods
there is also this guide for nor machines
This is one, dunno how good it is:
[Tutorial] PS3 NOR CEX2DEX - PS3Hax Network - Playstation 3 Hacks and Mods
If you decide to do this PLZ follow all steps and if something does not seem quite right, stop and research wth is going on, trust me because some one has probably already asked.
Oh yea for got to add, here are the guides to running 3.6+ back ups on dex 4.11 fw.
http://www.ps3iso.com/ps3-tutorials/137648-how-run-backups-dex-3-a.html
http://ps3mod.altervista.org/T-How-to-Play-ALL-Backup-3-60-On-console-Debug-DEX (use google translate on this one, its italian)
the first how to run a back up tutorial leaves alot to be desired but is the ENTIRE tutorial, the second one mainly shows how to use the ps3gen tool to "burn" to your bluray hdd.
All in all, the process is not hard ESPECIALLY if your familiar with cmd line and linux. Its definitely not user friendly as of right now, and im not even sure if its worth it unless u have the free time like i did.
HELPFUL TIPS FOR NAND MACHINES THAT I HAD TO FIND THE HARD WAY.
On "Cex to Dex" guide:
Step 3: If you dont see Lv2diag_exit.self on your jump drive dont panick, you can use PKGVIEW (on your pc) to extract the exit file from the LV2diag.self file.
Make sure to put usb stick in the most right usb port both times, not just the first time.
Also, make SURE your dump is 256 mb, if its less
Step 4: Name it metldr not METLDR
Step 8: On my ps3 sda1 = sdd1 = first usb port.
You can edit the partitions , you just have to select edit manually when it asks and select the bigger partition (should be 20 something gigs) . use arrows on keyboard to select resize, hit custom resize (after your agree to what ever it tells you before hand). Select the default 0.03 mb as your starting point and 4096mb as your end. after that use arrow key to go to commit and agree. should be done.
under step 8 is where i had alot of problems going into the next steps, the commands given at step 22 and 23 worked for some but did not work for me. You'll know if they did not work because in...
Step 9: If you are getting CMAC: FAIL! when you try to make your rflash dump, redo sparts 19-27 in step 8, but this time, in 22 and 23 use
"chmod +x run.sh" hit enter
then type
"sudo sh run.sh" hit enter and it should work correctly
instead of the commands given.
continue on as normal and when u get back to step 9 it should work.
also, DONT FORCE CLOSE CEX to DEX APP after you select a place to save your rflash.bin It appeard that the app had frozen and i forced closed and removed my jump drive and damn near corrupted every thing. the app mght hang a little bit but trust me its working. your rflash.bin file should be 256 mb and no less.
