@Westbama Heartthrob
you my fellow kbot and all
but this hate for jay
from the south is forced and corny breh
Not the South certain people from the South. Theres a laundry list of people Jay has worked with from the South and got a lot of love/respect for him.
Not directing this comment at you: But its like Gucci or Big Gipps opinion on Jay cancel out 40 other southern rappers who loved him.
Im from Alabama and I knew he was a problem when I heard the Streets is Watching sound track.
I wouldnt say hes the best lyricists. There some guys who I think lyrically are better than him (Nas, Lupe)....
The music is right there for you. Everybody hears things differently, and the types of lyricism that impresses one the most, might not do it for another.
Nothing anybody posts is going to change your mind.
This too. Nas, Pac, Cube, Jay, and Scarface are my top 5. But if you think any of them are trash...i could quote AEOM, Illmatic, DC, AG, and Diary all day long. If you think they trash...me copying and pasting a verse wont change your mind lol. For example, Im not impressed by Llyod Banks and his fans could post a 1000 verses and id be like "its cool man, but that shyt dont move me."
I heard Jay say in an interview that lyrics (who think is best) is "just what you like". None of the dudes i mentioned or Dre 3K or K dot or whoever approach the art the same. So if you like emotion and vividness youll graviate towards Face. If you like internal rhyme schemes and fast rapping youll gravitate towards EM. If you like technical prowess youll love Lupe or Thought as lyricists (artist is another convo).
Jay shines to me with his flow (in the sense his flow usually matches a part of the track like the drum lines), his humor, his entendres, his willingness to let the beat breath at times, his metaphors, and his authenticy.
He always been dope to me. That said i remember people at my Jr high and high school who didnt see the big deal at all lol.
