Some people were making beats with one of these:

It's the workman not his tools essentially, you wanna get something done you will usually find a way to to do it, if you want it bad enough that is.

Does it really take being in a studio to be a producer though?

I've been producing music on computers for almost 15 years now. I just use my laptop, Native instruments Maschine and my tascam portable digital recorder and make music wherever.


I had a big studio that's now been reduced to just those...and I can still make good music.

What he is talking about is fruity loops. And even still he is talking about 05 Fruity Loops. FL made a ton of upgrades, they are legit nowadays.

They was even legit in 05..lol..9th wonder made classic beats off that shyt..and I know somebody who was using it THEN mixed wit a few other things and shyt sounded like pure industry quality music...a few people actually..
