Let me give you an example of how something can be effectively taken
I'm signed to a label in San Francisco, we hired a producer/studio engineer to create a beat. He mostly engineered it from my highly-detailed production concept - I essentially provided a road map to it's creation.
He produced the beat and was paid by the hour to do it.
Later I came across some information that prevented me from wanting to associate my brand with said producer
I hired another producer remake it for cheaper than he did it
