Just wondering, considering how easy it is now to download/rip from Soundcloud, Youtube etc, do you guys worry about your beats getting jacked and sold on the countless beat sale sites out there.

I don't tag my beats and from listening to the stuff posted in this forum, neither do you but I've heard two examples of my beats which I consider to of been copied from my soundcloud. I'm talking exact same samples, chopped the same way, pitched the same way, with identical sounding drums.

I'm not saying my beats are great and people would get rich selling them, far from it, I've had a couple of offers for leases so I know there is small change to make, I'm just curious how you guys feel. I know after spending the hours that I do on crafting something, I want to be the one who profits from it.

Neither did I and I thought my shyt was safe. It is very simple to do though.

You can tag your beats, but it's not going to stop the next guy from either using it or trying to re-create the beat / song. It's been going on since music became a form of business. As long as you own the physical copy to your work (i.e. Pro Tools sessions) you can always put a cease and desist on whatever you see is yours and being sold w/out your permission (copyrighting music isn't really like it was 10 years ago).

On top of the fact that someone trying to use "just" a 2 track of your beat isn't going to benefit them if they want a good accurate mix and sell it to a Label / Artist. They'd need the actual tracked out session in order for it to be mixed properly and not sound like a mixtape track.

this kind of scares me because I had to delete all my sessions of my old tracks in fl studio because I stupidly erased the sliced beats folder to clear space and mh noob ass didn't know that was interconnected with everything :sadcam:

I still have all the samples and mp3s tho so if I need to recreated em I could but so could someone else:leon:

Consider it a compliment. The reality is...if you're making hot sh*t to where you think people are going to out right steal your stuff...maybe you're headed in the right direction lol. Otherwise, I wouldn't worry about it. People will try to copy, but it's your job as a producer to constantly try to challenge yourself and be on the next sh*t before people catch on.

I tag like a base runner. Another thing you could do is only upload snipits of the beats so if someone does rip it that will be all they get you can fade it in and out to make sure of that.

Burn them to a CD...Mail it to yourself and keep the package sealed until you need to produce it in court if somebody steals your sh!t. The date on the package and on the disc will be proof you owned them first.

This does not hold up in court

:laff: you guys sound like the Three Stooges

Any talented producer can recreate whatever it is that you created, "there's nothing you can do that hasn't been done" . . said The Beatles

How about you guys worry about creating? :manny:

If anyone's stealing your beat from YouTube it's never going to be used in a professional format anyway, and no site is going to be able to sell it besides one of these $10 for 3 beats type of desperate chumps

Started the topic out of geniune interest to see if people are bothered or not if others take their shyt. I did feel like one of the 3 Stooges when I heard my track on someone elses account.

The whole premise of the thread resembles slap stick comedy to me, I literally feel like I just saw someone run into a pole :skip:
