Exactly.

I'm around Africans everyday of my life (no surprise there)... i've never once heard anyone refer to AAs as "watered-down" or bragging about slavery.

The worst I've heard is people parroting their parents' rhetoric about AAs being too "lazy" to take advantage of America properly, but thats the exception not the rule and those people get called out, especially if i'm there.
