edit (2022): game is out
creā-ture studios is working on a new skateboarding game due for release in 2016. This subreddit was created to serve as an easily accessible place for all the information on this upcoming release.
The game, codenamed Project: Session was officially announced in February. It is made in the Unreal 4 engine with the PC as the primary platform (PS4 version releasing simultaneously or shortly after PC release). It's being developed by a team of 5, with varying experience (some with more than 10 years of experience in AAA studios). The founder of the studio has been skating for 25+ years and wants to deliver a new way of playing skateboarding games.
The game is inspired by the Skate series as well as the 2000s era of skateboarding films. They're currently not aiming for an open world game, they're focusing on creating quality spots without having to push around a lot. The game will require a controller to play. The control scheme will involve the two thumbsticks but there are no details on the exact controls yet, there will be more information on that in the coming weeks.
There will be a Kickstarter campaign for the game in mid/late August, the developers will be updating the website and FB/Twitter pages until then. The site will have a forum where you can get involved with the game's development. They're relying on community feedback so there will be playtests before release, either through a beta program or as a pledge reward.
