Producers, what is something you used recently for the first time, but now you use very frequently

I've recently discovered the ableton Vocoder plug-in with the noise setting works really well for adding texture to my percussion/shakers/hats. I've also tried putting it on an effects send, after some verb, to give my verb a crunchy tail. Try it out, and vary the bit rate to taste.

What are some things you've recenlty discovered that you now use routinely in your productions?

any noteable plug-ins? I don't need 50 compressors, delays, verbs... my plug in folder is stacked fam.. BUT I have room for something quality. The FabFilter series is so dope

:yeshrug:They're all notable to me. Up until recently I've been using the fruity loops defaults. This ish plays a major difference is sound quality. I'm trying to get that Plugin Alliance bundle next. This is important to me because I have been remixing some older beats.

I was being sarcastic earlier, but in all honesty, I'd have to say Decapitator is the plugin I use most now. I use it to beef up my drums...give it a warmer, thicker feel (w/ modelled analog saturation).

when your shyt is kind of weak, so you put decapitator on your drum buss...:whoo: :damn::blessed:
You got jokes!

I'd say my kick drums are more modern (i.e. crisp, clean, bright, etc...), not weak. Decapitator gives it more of an old-school, darker 12-bit feel. That's what I mean by "warmer." By "thicker," I mean the saturation from Decapitator automatically brings out the harmonics in the kick drum. It's no different than using an EQ to find a drum's sweet spot.

I use the Waves C-6 Compressor recently a lot.

I always use the "BD in C" for my Kick.
And the "Snare C" preset.
And "Bleed High Hat" (I cut it down with Parametric EQ).

They make my drums knock perfectly.

i have the collection of waves, but usually prefer my ableton stock compressors, what makes the waves sound the way you like? just curious. I know all of my songs would sound better if I had a little more targetted ideas about how to shape my sound more with the EQ and compressor. I mean, I understand the concepts, and I DO cut competing ranges, but I know I'm still an amateur in the end moving knobs till is sounds great.

I just got the fab filt multiband compressor and it seems really legit. hope to delve more in to that now. I guess that's another tip i'd like to share... learn your DAW and research your plugins. theres tons of info out there folks

I don't know how to use compressors but the C-6 has presets that really knock.
