Ableton 9 live demo premium/suite... shyt is convoluted as hell. I understand how to throw it all together, and I hit the record button, just didn't get a result from it

I dont have the answers right now, fortunately its friday and only thing I got goin this weekend is grillin up some jerk chicken and watching football. With that said im downloading the Ableton demo right now.

Yeah, try it out and tell me if you figure out how to record. I could always go to YT and see how, but w/e

Aight so I downloaded the demo earlier today but ive got down on it for about the past 30 mins. From what I found, I was able to load drums to the drum pad and create two patterns by painting the notes.

I found 2 ways to record. The first one was to press record then simply toggle back and forth from the patterns in the order I wanted them to play. Which is cool, but could be a pain in the ass. The other way was to drag and drop the sequences/patterns where I wanted them and then copy and paste them aka duplicate to make long sequences.

Use tab to alternate between the session view and the arrangement mode.

Im thinking there is a 3rd and easier way but ive yet to discover that. But so far ableton is pretty fukking easy to navigate and use...im kind of having that feeling like I wish I found this years ago. im downloading some of the free packs off their site to see what they are like. Im gonna be playin with this all weekend. Might make me stop wanting the akai software.

meanwhile I'm downloading the FL Studio demo and I plan to play with that :mjlol:

from what I hear, FLS is easy to just churn out quick hip hop esque beats, which is really what I'm going for

its really the same shyt different toilet. you can check it out. honestly i prefer the views of Ableton and the Mpc software which i feel are like Reason than FL. I will say Ableton seems more difficult. but I only have about 2 hours of time in it on my own. There was probably a time i felt the same way about FL.

i think reason is super easy and a great beginners tool because if you ever go the hardware route its a hardware emulator, down to the look and feel plus they have virtual connections that you can make to connect different devices as well as your ins and outs and such. A lot of people will never go the hardware route and even touch let alone use racks and such so if you never use it you arent missing anything.

I wouldn't get any gear yet since you just started but really it's just personal preference

I started in FL but after time I switched to Ableton and I like it a lot more just mess around and see what suits you best

Alright so I joined this producing club at a new school, right, and they recommended FL or Ableton

Homeboy hasn't hooked me up with the full FL yet so I'm rolling with an Ableton demo until then (and I'll try to familiarize with both)

I've done like two tutorial topics so far on Ableton, but is there any tips on how to become an expert?

get fl studiodemo.. once you learn what you're doing, its easy as pie
