Dude from a christmas story didn't get much work after that movie, he became set production supervisor. Eventually starting getting roles again because he stayed in the industry.
Asian dude from goonies, continued doing choreography work, after he took a hiatus from acting. was eventually able to get back into the limelight. And now is getting more work than the rest of the cast.
Getting a job at trader joes, or amazon i understand will help pay the bills in a pinch. No telling what opportunities he has. but i was him i would at least try to become a music teacher or something. Maybe one of your students gets famous and does a collab with you and you back in the industry.
