Went to University of Detroit-Mercy and was a part of the strength staff for my work-study every year I was there. The head strength coach and I were tight and I worked a LOT so I'd just be in the gym at all kinds of hours when people would come in.
Got to chop it up with Willie Green (he's on the Clippers now). At the time, he was about to re-sign w/ the Sixers but I think he was rehabbing an injury so I got to help set-up and watch the training. He drove a couple of us over to lunch in his truck and really remember now is him joking about how C-Webb would come into the training facility, be loud & barely lift
He also mentioned sleeping during lectures (regular shyt) and the biggest memory I can think of is the week after that slam dunk contest that Iguodala lost. Willie came through and for HOURS, him & a few guys from our school's team were trying to re-enact the dunk where
bounced it to him from the back of the glass. Cool guy.
...and the mother of my boy's son is the little sister of Chike Okeafor (former defensive end for 49ers/Seahawks/Cardinals). I remember being at a graduation party around Lansing and he was there with his wife. Had a long convo with her in the kitchen...wasn't trying to bother him...dude's huge but seemed pretty chill. My boy lived w/ his sister at Chike's crib in AZ for a sec, if I can recall. Good people.
