I read that she didn't want to have to be "in the shadow" of Darby Allin so that's why she wasn't open to going to AEW.

The brackets for the Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic were revealed earlier today and Marina Shafir was without her regular tag team partner, Jessamyn Duke. Instead, she will team with recent signing Zoey Stark (Lacey Ryan).

Fightful Select reports that Duke is not injured, but has been focusing on creating content for UpUpDownDown. She was a full-time game streamer when she was hired by WWE and creates digital content for the company full time now. It’s believed that she prefers creating content over wrestling the way things are now due to the pandemic.

The plan was always for Shafir to team with someone else, and there are currently no plans for Duke to wrestle in NXT while she’s working on UUDD.
