No version of Mike is beating Fury.

He couldn't deal with the height/size of Lennox Lewis, who's 6'5", and yet Fury is 6'9" and a better boxer than Lewis. Fury wouldn't allow himself to get caught by someone who's nearly a foot shorter. That gypsy ass giant wouldn't get intimidated either, which is pretty much Tyson's superpower.

Steve Cunningham, now I don't know if Fury didn't respect his power or not. But a CW shouldn't be putting fat Fury on his ass. I think younger Mike has a chance of hitting an uppercut on Fury. Post Buster Douglas version I don't see Mike beating Fury.

He beats Joshua, terrible matchup for AJ

He also beats Fury, harder match up but his speed, power & technical prowess was truly unique. While Fury has the size adv and is technically adept, Tyson’s accustomed to being the smaller guy. 60/40 adv to Mike

Both of them are keeping a distance with a jab and KO'n him at some point in the 2nd half of the fight. Fury might bum rush and finish him early.

Wasn't tyson style trained specifically to defeat taller fighters though? I think he beats all of them except Tyson Fury. Not just because of his height but he is a very awkward fighter

Mike Tyson is 5'10"

Deontay Wilder is 6'7"
Anthony Johsua is 6'6"
Tyson Fury is 6'9"

Tyson's tallest opponents:

6'5" Lennox Lewis. Knocked Tyson out.
6'5" Tony Tucker. Not a great fighter but gave Tyson a tough fight that went to decision.
6'5" Mitch Green. A meh fighter, didn't do much in their bout but Tyson never even got a knockdown, much less a knockout
6'4" James Smith. Like Mitch Green, didn't do much but Tyson couldn't knock him out
6'3" Buster Douglas. Knocked Tyson out.

Did I miss someone? Who was the tallest guy that Tyson knocked out?

Not only that I don’t thing any of those guys fought at 270, that’s too much to overcome. That size is would be too much

5 fights against fighters 6'3" to 6'5". Got knocked out twice and won decisions against mediocre fighters in the other three. Couldn't score a single knockdown.

But got you talking about Mike landing unexpected blows on a guy on the street while he was high. :heh:

We're talking about in the ring, not a sucker-punches. Styles make fights, and a 5'10" fighter is often going to struggle against a 6'7" fighter, that's just how it is. Tall fighters have been absolutely dominating the heavyweight division for nearly 25 years now.

Definitely a boxing casual, but Prime Mike was scary AF, but Fury is HUGE compared to him and can move, so I dunno.

like, could one of those super Tyson uppercuts even reach Fury’s jaw?? That’s a real question btw lol.

I went looking to see if Tyson Fury had ever faced an opponent as short as Mike to see what it would look like. So far as I can tell he hasn't fought anyone under 6'2" in a decade.

The shortest opponent I could find was 6'0" Zach Page back in 2010 when Fury was just 22 and was still working his way up as an undercard. Page was one of those guys with a tough chin who gets put up against all the up-and-coming contenders. Page couldn't really get into Fury (who was clearly far more inexperienced in this bout than he is today) and lost every round but went the distance as he always does.

Funny shyt is finding old boxing forums and seeing posters big-upping Page and saying he was gonna win the fight over overrated, untested Fury. :pachaha:

Carl Williams 6’4
Frank Bruno 6’3
Andrew Golota 6’4 but Tyson tested positive for marijuana
Alex Stewart 6’3
Razor Ruddock 6’3
Larry Holmes 6’3
Tony Tubbs 6’3
Henry Tillman 6’3
Lou Savarese 6’5
Kevin McBride 6’6

And I think Jose Ribalta was the tallest at 6’6.

Had to do some quick googling for some of these fights

Jose Ribalta was a nobody, but Tyson surprisingly calls him his toughest opponent (in terms of chin/strength)
Kevin McBride was a nobody who Tyson quit against
Larry Holmes was :flabbynsick: when they fought
Lou Savarese and Andrew Golota were decent opponents, probably the closest comps for facing a modern tall boxer but still not really reaching any of the guys we're talking about.

Everyone else on that list just 6'3".

Watching that fight though Tyson was such a beast. Had a bit of trouble getting the full impact of his punches into a tall fighter but he's definitely still whaling on him. :gladbron:

Mike may have gotten Joshua considering he starts tight and boxes nervous some but i don't believe that he would ever be able to beat Tyson Fury who has to many advantages for me to bet against him in this mythical matchup.
