breh did you watch mercer-lewis ...mercer gave him a lot of trouble even after the manny tweak..he wasn't past it for that fight..shyt I gave mercer that fight 96-94

I watched Lewis/Mercer once, 17 years ago. I cannot remember every boxing match that I've seen, (But I can remember McCall & Rahman bashin up Lewis tho if that makes you happy) along with all the other sports that I watch and to add all the films and tv programs aswell. :birdman: @ you for nit-pickin over 1 fight from the list.

And the only reason why I said Mercer was past it, was that he was what 34/35 and his biggest win was what Tommy 'Pre Aids' Gunn? 4 years earlier. Obviously he was dangerous still when he fought Lewis but Mercer's career MO was once he stepped up to the next level he jsut couldnt get it done minus the loss to Jesse Ferguson. Its not like I lassed Mercer as fodder :manny:

We're gonna need a Tyson stan thread here soon

ESPN Classic has ruined any potential boxing conversation. Them showing Mike fight marathons has convinced people he is this sort of demi-god who even at his peak had very real limitations just as all greats did. It's funny that people will accept Ali/Tyson debates (realistically,

Also, conveniently, "Prime Tyson" usually doesn't include him getting knocked out by Buster Douglas. Dude got out-worked by a bigger fighter with a good hands, solid technique, and a good jab, but Lewis who is 10/10 in all three of those categories would somehow been blow out of the water by him. :stopitslime:

Now, was Tyson having an off-night? Sure. I'm not saying by any means Buster Douglas was a better fighter than him. 8/10 Tyson wins that fight. What I'm saying is that that fight showed clearly what Tyson's weaknesses were. Just as you could look at Lewis' two losses and point out what his weaknesses were.

The thing is, Lewis specialized in what Tyson was weak against. Lewis never even had the slightest of issues against smaller fighters. His jab was too good, his hands were too quick, and when a guy DID get close, he tied them up and put 240lbs on them immediately.

The Tyson who got knocked out by Buster Douglas wasn't Prime Tyson in my opinion...to me Prime Tyson was the Cuss D'Amato/Kevin Rooney trained Tyson.
By the time he got starched by Douglas Mike had no trainers no work ethic and was surrounded by Don King stooges.

It's a bad matchup for mike either way...just like I think tyson would be a bad matchup for ali.

I'd give it to Lennox 6/10, doesn't mean he's "better" (i'm sure you could make a case, i'm just sayin), styles of course make fights, and that's just a bad match up for mike...just like I think mike would be a bad match up for Ali, even with him being the obvious GOAT.

No, because prime Tyson hasn't been beaten yet and sent to prison and medicated out of his anger. Lewis would be scared to death and get the beats.

I would give it a 70% chance of Tyson KOing him in the first 3 rounds. Tyson's head movement and speed at that point was out of control. The thing with Lewis is that he was like a Super Heavyweight..he was 250lbs and 6'5. He SHOULD be able to keep Tyson away with a jab all fight long.

Hating on Tyson is the cool new thing in 2013...

Lets be real: the ONLY WAY to stop Tyson, is to hug em...

If you want to say Lewis will hug tyson, push off, and Jab him for 12 rounds, sure, he might win... But that's bytch shyt...

If Boxing had a rule (which it SHOULD): At the start of the fight, you get 2 chances to hug, each 2 hugs after that you're deducted a point...

Then after that, each new round, you get 1 chance to hug, and each hug after that you're deducted a point...

Lewis would get KO'd.

I went back and watched Tyson Vs Holyfield first fight... Seriously, that shyt was hard to watch... Holyfield grabbing him every 3 seconds...

It's one thing to duck and dodge and backpedal... But it's another thing to CONSTANTLY impede your opponents ability to event through a punch... It'd be like the NBA not having fouls.

I think boxing would see a rise in popularity if they make holding as bad as head butting.

Early doors... say first 3 rounds I say Tyson has a 50% chance of knocking Lewis out. Lewis chin could be got at no doubt. But his defence was brilliant.

However from round 3/4 onwards - it's Lewis all day. It's meant he's hit Tyson with the straight from a distance enough and from there it's game over.

In their primes. On their best day. I think Lewis edges it. Mike is the better boxer imo. But the match is a nightmare for him. Lennox was huge, strong, excellent defensively but also had great hand speed (considering the size).
