You don't dive for the end zone and expose the ball. Only dummies do it when it's not necessary. On 4th down and u gotta have it? Absolutely. Dive. But where you were positioned, with your momentum, you're almost assuredly gonna get the first down falling forward. And if you don't get it, it's 3rd and a foot. It's one of the best rules in sports. The end zone is officiated differently on every other play. It shows the inherent selfishness of players and separates the smart, disciplined players from the stupid, undisciplined ones.
