Did you read the article from the guardian stating that they got rid of that LAST YEAR and the new policy only applies to people that are there illegally and cannot prove who they are ???

GOTDAMN!!!

I read the article. It was modified after the international outcry.

My previous post focused on the original ruling, which opened Pandora's box and led us to where we are.

After re-reading the article, I, for the most part, stand by what I said earlier. Even the modified version is foul. Their citizenship still gets stripped, but now there is a path for them to be stay as a permanent resident...AKA become a foreigner, in their own country. From their they can become a naturalized citizen after two years, where they will not enjoy all the rights they once had, like running for higher office.

I'm sorry but I can't cosign this version either.

Bottom line is, imho, that ruling in 2013 should've never happened.

So how can they be retroactively stripped of citizenship if they qere illegal to begin with
Cause none of the parents were Dominicans by blood and the once that were born there the parents never bothered to do the paperwork

How many times do I have to explain that U.S. And DR DO NOT have the same citizenship policies...

U.S. - you only have to be born there to claim citizenship or become naturalized through marriage etc.

DR- your parents have to be born there and their parents etc.

:mindblown:

Majority of the world this we those why it's so hard to understand :wtf:
