The first Dead Presidents song dropped around November/December 95. The album dropped in late June 96. It was a nice lil gap between the single and album so I guess they updated it with new lyrics so it wouldn't feel old.

I thought I remembered reading Can I live was the only song(or maybe just the 3rd verse) Jay-z ever wrote because he expected Nas to jump on the track, I'm probably wrong though and he was just supposed to make an appearance on DP2.
