I could see the CIA taking a warning shot. Additional deaths are collateral damage as far as they are concerned (see COINTELPRO, war on drugs etc).

Okay, an assassination being successful is rare and in the US, during election season???

We've seen presidents who had questionable decisions be completely forgotten and ignored because they were killed. JFK is looked at as a god of charisma and leadership. But, the Bay of Pigs fiasco and other shyt he was doing would have been ticking time bombs for his future has he not been killed.

Trump actually being assassinated would have forced the media to fall back on their criticisms and show pity. His legacy would have suffered less damage than what is going to happen when, without an assassination attempt, people analyze how hostile, divisive and foolish he was.

No way this was an intentional miss, Trump turned his head at the very last second and turned a fatal wound into a graze. There's a good 3D video out there showing how Trump moved out of the way just in time.
