Nah, Witty's my guy, but he kind've sucked as EP too. He was great at making sure audio and drops were lined up, but couldn't drive the show for shyt. That whole run was way too serious.
I barely listened to the show during most of Witty's time as a shipping crew member. But my point is that he was the chosen one to finally replace Mike and he just bounced and left them having to start from zero and having to end up settling with Cote :pachaha:

Witty is a self-aggrandizing, unfunny dork. He has no rhythm, which was clearly evident whenever he had to do Weekend Observations or transition topics. If he didn't love the smell of his own farts so much, he might have been decent, but his corny act took away from the funny too often. The show is pretty much toast at this point, IMO. I wish we could go back to the afternoon drive time-into-Bomani era, that shyt was glorious. Bomani takes damn near every chance he gets to put distance between himself and LeBatard the days, so I doubt there will ever be much a working relationship ever again. Stan back in the cut today was nice.

Roy should be the EP he doesn't necessarily have to be the lead.
The EP on that show has to speak to much, and Roy is lacking in that area, unfortunately. I always feel a little sad when he trips up on his words (I have a child with a mild speech impediment). He's great but he just gets flustered in tight spots, which an EP cannot do.

The fact that they think the roles of EP and lead/strong on mic presence are mutually exclusive lets you know they're maybe a little too rooted in their ways. As soon as they wrap their head around the fact that they really don't need to replace Mike with another Mike, he can finally move the fukk on.

Bomani can't crack 35k on his daily pod.
Espn didn't renew him and his hbo show was mad disappointing. His career is finished with.

Mike's still around because the product is cooked without him there. He was covering up a lot of warts from Lebatard and Stu, who are essentially interested in doing two different shows at this point.

Loyalty will be a fault for Dan because while he wants to keep it in the family and develop, the people he has in house aren't a strong enough presence to offer challenge on or off air (creative). And the guy that's apparently in charge of finding his own replacement (Mike) probably isn't interested in bringing in an outsider to possibly completely change the voice of the show. Mike wants to be needed but not necessarily doing it.

I agree with both. I think it's a mix of Mike's narcissism not wanting to not be needed and also Mike knowing how difficult both Dan and Stu are to work with.

He basically babysat the show for more than a decade and bringing someone from the outside that could either 1) try to babysit too and fail at it, 2) not babysit and get backlash from Dan (who would also want an EP that can lead) or 3) get someone that actually does a better job than him are three things he doesn't wanna see happen :heh:
