I am tired of the NBA slurping when they were willing to keep playing games until the players were like hell no.

That OKC game almost started.
Everyone was willing to keep life going then. We are literally having sweeping change happen hour by hour. Thousands of fans were at games then, people were still at gyms, restaurants and bars...the NBA acted as best they could given where the US was in its understanding and reaction to CV

you need to blame the Clown-In-Chief who acted like this would be no big deal, didn't prepare at all & since he got in office cut all the shyt that would've came in handy right about now.

When the leader acts like this, how you expect everyone else too :francis: everyone had to adjust on the fly because that's what the govt did :yeshrug:

I agree.

But, switch the NCAA and NBA and NBA is also not shutting down games and playing atleast another week of games.

I'm talking about the "leader of the COVID 19 response" stuff and "Adam Silver is such a visionary" stuff.

That needs to stop.

Yeah I agree with that Silver stuff. These dudes were still playing games until that Rudy shyt popped off and they had no choice. They were at most about to goto no fans like GS if things didn't get like they are now.

Them calling to suspend the season vs even trying to think about no fans, etc was a big move. That was basically revenue suicide, no one wanted to do that. NCAA and NHL were still going to barrel ahead. Then Everyone fell in line later that day, the NCAA doing so begrudgingly. No one wanted to be the first to make that call. Believe if the NFL was in season, they wouldn’t have been the first mover

Today state are suspending businesses and gatherings over 10 ppl.

The NBA stopped only a week ago.

That weren't being proactive.

They had to stop once a player popped dirty.

If the NBA did it two weeks earlier then ppl had a point.

Again, I game was able to tip off b4 they stopped it and another one was about to be played a hour later until PLAYERS (Pelicans) said they weren't playing becuz a ref just reffed a Utah game.

The NBA had no choice.

What kind of strawman argument is that? We don't know how the NBA would've reacted in that situation. Even before the full suspension it was already being reported that the NBA was about to start playing games in empty stadiums anyway the day after the actual suspension of the season occurred. They were ahead of the curve and the main ones taking decisive measures. They were the first ones to start banning media and cutting off autograph sessions and fan events and trying to isolate the players as much as possible.

I’m not gonna clog your this thread over this, but everyone was fine living life the way we had been living it just last week. Every single day more and more places close up, social distancing grows, and orders to stay inside and not congregate pop up...them outright canceling the season as opposed to trying to do limited personnel (which was ok back then when cities still had 100-250 person gathering limits) was a big move

This was from the day that the games were eventually suspended. Rudy testing positive forced their hand and sped things up but this is showing they were already being proactive in how to try and work through it.

That's a good point.

But, still a half ass measure looking back.

My point is the praise is overboard, not they don't deserve any praise.

I don't think it's a straw man we all admit the NBA would've still played games, just with no fans, if Rudy didn't fail the medical teat.

I'm referring to you saying that if a player popped up positive with the NCAA would NBA have moved forward. We have no way of knowing that. It's easy to look back at it as a half measure knowing the steps that have been taken now. But at the time no one knew the severity of the situation and the NBA discussing playing in empty arenas was looked at as an overreaction by a lot of people at the time. Remember that a lot of people were still considering it a hoax at the time and had only started shutting down large gatherings of people a couple days before.
