Amin's voice yesterday sounded like he was hungover as fukk that morning.
Lately?!Amin taking a bunch of L's lately
Lately?!
That's kind of what makes the Amin dynamic so great though. He's so full of hubris, which makes his failures that much more entertaining. In this little bubble, he's the perfect personification of the tragic overconfident Greek protagonist who falls to the fates.
He tries to express knowledge, expertise, physical & mental skill, and knowing this show better than its precipitants & progenitors that, whenever he fails, (be it footrace, ANW, or within the actual show) it's all elevated b/c it's coming from someone who professes to damn well know better than do what they do.
That brings a completely different flavor than, say, a Mina Kimes, who completely fits in, or a Katie Nolan, who isn't trying to fit in but bring her shyt own to to the table, or a Sarah Spain, who can't fit in b/c she's inherently incongruous but Dan tries to force her in, etc...
All these different personalities bring different things to the table, and I've grown to enjoy Amin (especially since he's grown less show-fanboy and more trying to be himself and failing as opposed to Dominique Foxworth, who I feel is still in fanboy stage) and I like the different dynamics the different people bring. It helps to alter the chemistry and flow on a decades old show into different feels & territory than they'd get to otherwise.
(Honestly, only one I don't appreciate is Sarah Spain because she brings nothing appreciable to the table.)
Don't understand people not digging Katie Nolan tho. She hasn't had a chance to do much on this radio show, but she's a true proven sports head & her own solidly crafted personality even before she landed at ESPN. Can't say I've jumped into her Sports with a question mark podcast but I've enjoyed all her HQ stints & her radio spots have been fine. I just don't think she's learned yet how to play off Dan & the crew so she's content to lay back until they throw specific things at her, which unfortunately leads to Dan being "oh, there's a women's issue, there's Katie, what do you think?" which doesn't suit anyone well.
But is there any better laugh then hers when she realizes along with everyone else that Stugotz doesn't know why his lie about walking next to the lake with Stephen Hawking doesn't work? Don't think so.
Tim was pretty unreal here:
Who the hell listens to this much radio in 2018So they took The Ticket (along with some other stations that I had in my favorites) off of TuneIn, and their app no longer works either. Gotta download the Radio.com app to listen to the local hour live. Looks like a lot of stations have moved over there. So you have to have TuneIn, iHeart and now Radio.com apps to cover your radio needs.
Good to have your bases covered. There are shows that you sometimes wanna tune in to. There are fanbases that you gotta listen to after a big loss for comedic purposes. And of course times where something is happening on Hot 97 that you gotta check out.Who the hell listens to this much radio on 2018
