The whole show was pretty much a downer, especially when Dan was talking about his parents and the chance of ESPN sending his family to Cuba. Then the last segment came on and it's "Let's see who's in the club!"

After the show ended, the TV remnants showed Stugotz saying "I dunno if Dan will be here on Monday,but I'll be here with a great show hopefully with Trent Dilfer, Trey Wingo, Darren Woodson...nothing but sports"

I wonder what happened? Dan has been off and on since the year started. Must be something personal behind the scenes.

Dan has stated a few times that he doesn't see himself doing this for many more years. When u look at him putting up the address for people to contact to get him fired - to publically stating that ESPN wants him to stop making fun of an on air talent, etc..I get the feeling that he really wouldn't mind getting suspended and having ESPN pay out his guaranteed contract.
I get the impression Dan wants to do something (not necessarily sports talk) where he has 100% creative control and can do and talk about whatever he wants.

these dudes work best as an afternoon show IMO, from their personalities and content to the simple fact that by the time they're on (well by the time they used to be on) most people were sports talked to death. the recaps from the night or weekend before were done, storylines had been talked to death, etc so you welcomed a break...so i could see how a big chunk of espn's audience who don't mind them at 4 would be annoyed with them in the morning when they occupy a slot where people still want to hear sports news and where a lot of "news" breaks (trades, injury reports, press conferences, etc)

Bomani and Dan should switch time slots. Bomani is great with the sports talk even at the time slot he's currently on.

It was a real fukking bummer listening to todays show, but it was really good radio, because ESPN has something in Dan that transcends sports, and "they don't get the show". He summed it up today, "they hired me to be controversial, but then get mad when i'm controversial". He is using this "gofightme" controversy to force Espn to either suspend him, or let him do his show the way he wants, but then on the other hand, he will endure the sh!t he doesn't want to do because he doesn't want the guys to lose their jobs. Depending on how this plays out, he could be really miserable for a while.

That's why i said he will endure the bullsh!t, just for the team, but he will be transparently miserable.

I agree with everyone else in here Dan would love to do what he wants when he wants. The funny thing is he dissed playing the lottery but winning that means you can travel the world or sit in a bar anytime you want like Dan admitted he would rather do. The money and fame is something Dan enjoys but he is like an artist who cares more about passion and loving what you do more than anything. Dan just truly looked unhappy today. Some days Dan looks mad or frustrated but today he looked like he wanted to walk into the ocean with rocks in his pockets.
