Ed Wood (1994)
Johnny Depp and Tim Burton have worked on a lot of projects together, while I don't care to do the tally right now, I dare say that most of them have been clunkers. Ed Wood is fukking brilliant however. Extremely endearing character study.
Jumanji (1995)
Wonderful, imaginative kids movie that works mainly because of what you *don't* see. As a kid, I just loved thinking about all the shyt that Robin Williams saw when he was inside the board game.
John Carpenters entire career :

Dude is one of the GOATS...but he doesn't get any respect because he's only ever worked in genre movies. Halloween, The Thing, Prince of Darkness, Escape from New York, Big Trouble In Little China, etc etc etc the list goes on.
Probably a lot more depending on what you mean by "top list" and depending on how others feel about them. For instance, I personally would list Cronenberg right here after Carpenter but I get the sense that movies like Videodrome and The Fly actually get a fair share of "respect".
