mehFor a while I used to think larry david hated us. No black recurring characters in seinfeld and then for like the first few seasons of curb your enthusiasm there weren't any black recurring characters.
I'm certain the people behind these shows:
How you gonna set a show in one of the most multicultural cities on earth and have an all white cast with no recurring black characters?
Also with some of the actors in those shows, I don't think I've seen them in TV shows or movies where they have a black co star(e.g. Neil Patrick Harris, Matt leblanc, Jason Segal, Sarah Jessica Parker) could be wrong though.
I'd rather it be like that than instead of bringing in a token black guy. You ever notice how they always make the token person the lamest and corniest?
As for Eric Clapton. fukk him and every c00n ass nikka that love him. Never really listen to his music, but lol @ this fakkit talking shyt about the Jamaicans as if him, himself never admitted that reggae and Bob Marley influenced his music. What a douche. You'd be suprised fam. Prejudice and racism are two different things. Some people can still be prejudiced or have view a person's race in a fukked up manner and still date them or have sex. White women could still date a black man and still see his race - as a whole -as inferior....

At what point in my post did I definitively say that the creators of those shows are racist? I expressed suspicion that they might be racist based on the fact that they create a fictional world based on a real one where people of color are conviniently shooed away and even qualified that my statement may not be accurate by using an example of when I've been wrong before I even listed off those shows. BET has nothing to do with this because BET is catering to a minority audience that doesn't see enough of of their people in regular hollywood shows to begin with. A "black" show is a response to a lack of a black presence in the entertainment industry. Why on earth would whites not want to see a multiracial cast? Why wouldn't whites be able to believe that a black person can't be part of the cast of HIMYM or Friends? you can't really answer that question without saying something along the lines of "whites don't want to see black people" which then assumes that most or all whites think of people of color as eyesores.
I don't know why I'm even bothering to respond to you, you're just some pissed off person looking for any excuse to insult posters to make you feel better about yourself and the fact that you get sonned and negged on the regular and the only time anyone responds to you is to tell you that you don't know what you're fukking talking about.

I hate this term. Racism is a belief in the superiority of one race over another. If you don't want to work with blacks because you think you're better than them then that's racism. If you want to create a fictional world where they only exist as homeless people or garbagemen--basically a servant or vagrant class, then that is racism. When you feel comfortable throwing around racial slurs then that is racism because you're assuming that the race that your slandering is too pathetic to stop you or do anything about it. Allowing people who hold racist beliefs to rise to a level of stardom in which they can actually influence people's lives is a bad look for the industry and a bad look for america.
Representation of people of color in media is a big fukking deal. How do you think your children will feel when most of the books they read have white people as the heroes? how do you think they'll feel when so many TV shows they tune into have an all white cast or no black protagonists? that is racism. The industry has relegated people of color to background characters if not leaving them out entirely, in a belief that their stories aren't worth telling or that they cannot belong to a certain class which is being represented in the show, movie, play, or whatever.
I mean think about it: how hard do you have to strain yourself to think of a movie that has an Asian protagonist that was made in hollywood? how about a TV show other than the George lopez show or Dora the explorer that has a latino protagonist? How about a movie with an interracial couple in which they don't make a big deal about how different the backgrounds of each part of the couple is? Hollywood is perpetuating the myth of white supremacy that does no one any good and when you can push people to the side then you are subtly cosigning their discrimination. People in the entertainment industry that are unwilling to work with blacks or musicians that accept black influences in their music but then shyt on black people--that isn't justifiable at all.
