The bolded is partly true I guess it depends on your background. I'd say Jamaicans were much more influential but I'm Jamaican myself. We use far more yard slang than US slang and it just sounds more natural. But you're talking about a phase that lasted about 2 years at the most(blood/crip thing). You're giving the US too much credit, channel u was far more damaging.
Again talk to those breddas who upped the crime rate in the 00's. Tell the mandem who got bun and the ones who caught the M charges it was all because of US gang culture and see what they tell you.
I'm jamaican too, its a big mixture but I'd say its more US, coz of rap etc. Alot of our slang comes from the rap music
The imitation of US gangs and creating factions based on US gangs i.e. bloods crips is still going on, wasn't no 2 yr ting. We like 10yrs deep now
The youngens are now imitating chicago gangs, using numbers 67 (cant remember the others)
You cant determine the illness of a tree by looking at the leaves, you have to look at the roots. If you told the same man on M charges, that they are where they are as a direct cause of slavery, they wouldn't wanna hear it. It's a subconscious thing.
We are always tryna compete and imitate US to show how "cool" we are. I can find you 50+ page threads of UK posters tryna compete with the US on murder rates and how hard the city is.
you cant scratch the surface to find a problem, it goes way deeper than that.

We got no identity, just look at how we imitate. It's beyond me how this videos 17mins
