There are many good places to live in the south. There are also businesses relocating to the region. If it's not your thing, that's fine, but people have legit reasons to do it.

I could see it being a pit stop for me before I move somewhere out west later in life.

You really think that the south is like that, still? Jobs will cease to exist thanks to automation and to tell ya the truth, black folk get shytted on in the north as in the south. The key to this game is legit wealth. Ownership is vital. The concept of working in a Fortune 500 company will be a thing of the past.

There's an endless stream of money here.

I have my own businesses, my own properties, no bachelors in computer science, no certs, no fortune 500 job.

I'm not the only one by any means either there are a lot of brothers and sisters eating really good here. Whether they're doing their own thing with real estate, small businesses, corporate, government jobs... you've got a lot of options and lanes here. I see black excellence everyday and there is still a strong black ownership here despite what the media is saying.

Black people been in NYC for a long time. You can't just keep moving. At some point, we gotta just dig in and build up. shyt ain't gonna get better wishing no some aimless shyt.

Theres really no excuse for blacks in NYC to be this marginalized.

I live in Crown Heights/Bedstuy and most of the owners are black. That's not even to mention south bk like flatbush, canarsie, brownsville, eny, etc. Even the neighborhoods that I would consider white still have black ownership in them and they're legit millionaires.

Many of those places are where nikkas rep the hood shyt. If black ownership was like that, then the issue of gentrification wouldn't be as hard hit as it is now.

They're not. All the wealth in NYC at this point has been grabbed up by the hands of a few. The only real way for social mobility for most black folks is to move south and to create new opportunity. This ain't the 20th century anymore and the fact that everything is getting automated, means that the few will get filthy rich and the rest will starve. Might as well move somewhere your buck will stretch farther.

this has been going on forever tho, its no secret that a lot of nyc blacks are moving to atlanta and florida, in elementary i went to private school in brooklyn that was all black so most of the kids were middle class and in my FB timeline a whole lot of them are in atlanta

its not clear to me why this is a bad thing, i think if people cant afford ny or there more opportunities to own somewhere else then you should move

word a lot of my friends growing up live in atlanta or elsewhere down south too. my old neighborhood is like 90% mexican or south american now.
