Yeah those guys were apart of it but DJ L is the producer that Drill a unique sound seperate from trap with those like reggae bounce snare rhythm, Rapid snare rolls, Hi hat rolls, Dark melodies like on Lil Herb "Gangway", King Louie -Till I meet Selena, Kill shyt,etc. Chop, Kenn and Smylez did alot for drill because of the rappers they produced for too but their beats were closer to Atlanta Trap music
Yeah Chop's sound especially on Keef's Finally Rich was like the mainstream version of Drill in 2012 when first wave of the Chicago Trap/Drill artists (Keef, Reese, Durk, King Louie) started going viral those beats were basically Down south Trap beats with a little variation but the same sounds (Brass, Arps, Bell sounds, Synth,Orchestral hits). But DJ's L sound is more original and dark sounding, That's the real Drill sound.If you watch HipWiki that's what the local rappers and gang members rap on DJ L style beats. UK Drill Producers like Mazza, Yamaica, took DJ L's sound and ran with it
